Media has the power to change the world: it shares our stories, it drives culture, it shapes our lives. Tree Media Group’s mission is to use media to support and sustain civil society. Tree Media Group was founded by sisters Leila Conners Petersen and Nadia Conners and has entered its ninth year of operation. The company's creation dates back to the emergence of new technologies that would allow for a more democratic dissemination of ideas. Over the last nine years, Tree Media Group has consistently worked on projects that disseminate progressive messages and ideas.
Media That Matters
In the last few years, "media that matters" - entertaining, profitable media that also has deeper meaning - is on the rise. As a production catalyst, Tree is investing and working on projects that fulfill that need, and that helps those who want to create positive change.
Media is a mental environment; so, as it takes care, consideration and long-term thinking to live in harmony with the natural world, so too, it takes time to create meaningful content that stimulates and inspires and with attention to issues of impact, influence, education, entertainment as well as the bottom line.
Storytelling needs to happen from a place of inspiration, love and the joy of sharing; rather than from a place of fear. And, as Paul Ray and Sherry Anderson point out in their book
The Cultural Creatives: How 50 Million Americans are Changing the World,
there is a vast group of people who do not see their stories, myths or lives represented in the media. This new culture in America is now gaining momentum and much of what Tree creates attracts those with progressive vision.
This niche enables Tree to grow and maintain a business dedicated to promoting transformative ideas and projects and working with progressive individuals and companies. The background of its founders and key employees allows Tree to build an outstanding portfolio of clients and relationships. Our relationships crosscut through the filmed entertainment field which has allowed us to expand into the development and production of our own filmed projects. |
Independent Thinking
The acceleration of media mergers creates a demand for companies that can support independent thinking and that can create compelling, entertaining and thoughtful content. While the world’s uncertainties and complexities are accelerating; media conglomerates are making devastating decisions to put comedy and violence before news and ad profits before useful information and content. In the wake of media mergers, independent sources of content are invaluable. Tree has a commitment to content that promotes dialogue and a healthy civil society. Over the past nine years, Tree’s projects examine themes like: trends in global transformation, conflict resolution, care & sustainability, cultural catalysts, mapping the zeitgeist, corporate activism and progressive organizations.
Tree’s work includes content development and production for the web, motion picture development and production, internet websites, motion media shorts and modules, motion picture marketing campaigns digital libraries and workspaces, digital community forums and roundtables and immersive media environments.
